Herbal Therapy

The sophisticated use of herbal prescriptions has been the cornerstone of traditional Chinese medicine from earliest times and plays a pivotal role in modern practice, particularly internal medicine and gynecology.

Medicinals are derived primarily from plants, some from animals or minerals. Endangered species are carefully avoided. Herbal prescriptions may be taken alone or in conjunction with acupuncture to treat a wide range of health concerns.

An individual prescription typically consists of 6-12 individual medicinals. Forms of administration include decoctions from raw herbs, from granulated herbs, herbal powders or pre-made tea pills. In addition, a wide range of topical applications is available to treat injuries, pain or skin conditions.
